Corporate Political Risk Management in the US, and its Implications to Chinese MNEs

Chinese multinational enterprises (MNEs) operate in host countries such as the US facing political risk. They may unaware that it is perfectly legitimate and a common practice for American firms to exert political influence. Chinese MNEs need to learn how to play political games and achieve competitive advantage. An introduction of corporate political activities (CPAs) in the US, and a discussion of a case shows that, in the US, to influence public policy process effectively, one company need to build and maintain long-term relationships with important politicians, combine individual and collective actions, and adopt various political strategies and tactics.
