An Empirical Analysis of Agricultural Productivity in the Sloping Land Conversion Region Based on DEA Mode

Using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), we assess the agricultural productivity change in the Sloping Land Conversion Region after implementing the Sloping Land Conversion Program (SLCP) and decompose the growth of agricultural productivity with Malmquist index model; additionally, we carry on project analysis with CCR model on the agricultural productivity of different region at the same period. It is found that the main cause of agricultural productivity change comes from technical progress. Compared with other places, Wuqis agricultural productivity grew faster. Moreover, from project analysis, relaxation exists in farmland area and agricultural labor in Huachi. Therefore, the government should associate the Sloping Land Conversion Program with adjustment of agricultural structure and rural labor transfer.
