Study on Characteristics of the Technology and Mill Configuration for CSP Continuous Hot Strip Mill
There have been seven streams of CSP production line of SMS, the second generation of which is different form the conventional hot rolling process in technology and mill configuration. Because of the lower reduction of CSP casting slab and the larger proportion of SPHC grade, the product varieties and specs are limited. The advantage for the thin gauge strip production of CSP hasnt show. The process of continuous casting and roiling makes the rolling plan is different from the conventional coffin criteria, the fuzzy rolling plan influences the wear characteristics of the work rolls. Because there is no roughing mill, the reduction of the finishing trains of CSP is higher, which makes the F1~F2 stands are similar as roughing mill, but take the tasks of strip profile control. So, the finishing trains of CSP hot strip mill are classed to three groups, and the working characteristics and design methods of rolls are different each other. Based on the production status of Masteel CSP, the ideas of work rolls and backup rolls design was proposed, part of which were practiced valid by industrial production.
