Modernization of CSP(R) Thin Slab Casters Realized Concepts and Ezperience
Strand guide extension for higher productivity will be described. Additionally, implementation of position and force-controlled segment adjustment allows adaptation of the casting thickness for rolling ultra-light gauge strips. Many short-lever oscillators with electro-mechanical drive have been converted to hydraulics, while conversion of 4-eccentric type oscillators is more difficult due to limited space. The described solution continues to be a quick-change unit utilizing four cylinders. The mould monitoring system today not only covers the breakout prediction system but, in addition, the thermocouples will he used for the new feature of prediction of depression/longitudinal facial cracks.
