Study of Mechanism for Edge Cracks of Boron Alloying Low Carbon Steel Plate
The hot ductility of boron alloying low carbon steel in thin slab casting process was tested by Gleeble-1500 tester, the embrittlement region under slower strain rate was found in 850~950℃, and the worst hot ductility is appearing at 900℃ with intergranular brittleness failure. The bad hot ductility is due to the precipitation of boron nitride along prior austenite grain boundary densely and causes the thin slab intergranular cracks. The thin slab transverse comer crack is primary concluded to be one of the factors causing edge cracks of boron alloying low carbon steel plate.
