Danieli QSP for Severstal Group: The Technology for Superior Steel Quality Production
Danieli in the last years has reached a leadership position in the field of mini mill for flat product and can offer to the market the most advanced configurations able to satisfy the high demanding market requirements in terms of production level and strip quality. The paper describes in particular the QSP (Quality Strip Production) configuration that has been chosen by Severstal Lucchini group for his new this slab casting and rolling plant in Piombino (Italy).SEVERSTAL planned the installation of this new facility in Europe with the specific goal to target high added value marked of micro alloyed steels. Worth to be underlined, this will be the first minimill able to reach a production level up to 1,700,000 tpy of with only one strand caster, based on a product mix including up to 60% of HSLA and Dual phase steel including and API grade to be a leader in high quality steel production in Europe. This paper describes the specific process, equipment and plant features that allow Danieli to positively answer to this technological challenge.
