Development of CSP Mold Powder for Casting High-Ti Micro-Alloyed Steel in Lianyuan Steel

China have the largest reserves of Ti and the largest production of continuous cast and continuous rolled thin slabs in the world. But, the high-Ti micro-alloying hasnt been applied widely to thin slab production yet. With upgraded control of metallurgical process and consideration of temperature evenness of slabs, many slab producers commence developing high-Ti steel. Tests found, during casting high-Ti steel, inclusions like TiN, TiO2, Al2O3 in molten steel make properties of the mold powder change a lot. After casting a heat, content of TiO2 in powder was 1.85%, which increased from O at initial stage, the softening temperature of powder was 1018℃, which riser from initial 851℃, and the hemispherical temperature and flow temperature changed less. Use of for-high-Ti-steel mold powder can increase both the heat flux density of copper plate appropriately and the inclusion adhesion.
