Research on Nonmetallic Inclusions of Drawable Cold Sheets Rolled With Compact Strip Production Hot Strips

The nonmetallic inclusions were studied for drawable quality (CQ) cold sheets and deep drawable quality (DDQ) cold sheets rolled with compact strip production (CSP) hot strips. The distribution and morphology of nonmetallic inclusions were investigated. The results revealed that DQ cold sheets contain more nonmetallic inclusions than DDQ cold sheets. The complex inclusions of larger size exist in DQ products, whereas DDQ sheets contain only fine globular oxide inclusions of small size. Moreover, complex inclusion of larger size is a major factor influencing the drawing property of DQ cold sheets. Therefore, it is necessary to control chemical composition of steel during refining in the production of DQ cold sheets with CSP hot strips in order to improve the drawing property.
