Finite Element Numerical Simulation of Slope Tension Fracture

Aiming at the situation of deformation and failure phenomena of soft-rock slope becomingmore and more,four criterions of rock tension fracture and the principles of tension elements are givenbased on the theory of rock tension fracture,simulating the evolution process of the soft-rock slopetension fracture through the finite element program. It concludes that the upslope rock of the soft-rockslope being the tension stress on the function of the gravity.When the tension stress exceeds thetension strength,the rock is fracture and forills the tension fracture plane and the cracks on the top. Thisis similar to the practical situation of the field. It can provide theoretical support for understanding thefailure law and the support of the soft-rock slope.
