Finite Layer Method for Solving Ground Subsidence Induced by Dewatering in Deep Ezcavation
Dewatering in deep excavation will induce ground subsidence, which makes great destruction on ground establishments and brings negative impacts to underground environment. Many approaches have been applied to predict and calculate ground subsidence induced by pumping groundwater. The Finite Layer Method (FLM) is introduced to form a new numerical model in ground subsidence research. The paper summarizes the current approaches first, then comes up with the method of FLM and presents the calculating process with FLM. One case study shows that the FLM method can properly reflect the behavior of ground subsidence induced by dewatering in deep excavation.
