A plasmid-borne O-antigen in Brachyspira hyodysenteriae
BackgroundBrachyspira hyodysenteriae is the causative agent of swine dysentery. The genome of B. hyodysenteriae has been completed and annotated. The B.hyodysenteriae plasmid that was found is not described in the literature (1). This is the first report on the detection of plasmid-encoding proteins involved in the biosynthesis of B. hyodysenteriae Oantigens. A similar rfbBADC cluster has not been found in the genome of the related spirochaete Brachyspira pilosicoli. This difference may be associated with the contrasting sites of colonization of these two species.Data & MethodsThe complete genomic sequences of B.hyodysenteriae WA-1 and a draft of genome sequenced of B. pilosicoli 95/1000 were recently sequenced. The annotation of the sequence was carried out at the Centre for Comparative Genomics (CCG), Murdoch University. The assembled genome sequences were processed through the CCG annotation pipeline (Figure 1).
