Identification of disease genes via network alignment of human interactome and phenome

BackgroundUnderstanding the complexity in genotypephenotype relationship is of vital importance for revealing the genetic basis of complex diseases. Recent studies on the basis of human interactome and phenome not only uncovers prevalent and intricate phenotypic overlap and genetic overlap between human diseases, but also reveals a modular organization of the genetic landscape of human diseases 1,thereby providing new opportunities to reduce the complexity in dissecting the genotypephenotype association and to facilitate the discovery of disease genes.
