Researches on Detecting Driving Fatigue Based on Eye Features

Drivers eye features are sort of important basis of fatigue detection. Firstly, Otsu method is used for getting the binary image in the project to extract the length and the width of eyes. A new method is put forward to express the eyes closing degree using the ratio of eyes length to width, and then eyelid motion parameters were obtained. The center of iris is determined by using Point Hough Transform. The gazing direction is judged by means of the relationship between view ray and orbit, iris, and visual line parameters are obtained. Finally, decision tree of fatigue detection is constructed by using ID3 algorithm which based on information entropy. Simulation results show that the proposed method is effective and feasible, and a foundation of further study on fatigue detection is laid by using multiple eye features.
