USER SELECTION FOR THE CAPACITY MAXIMUM IN MULTIUSER MIMO SYSTEM

Multi-user Multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) scheme is extensively investigated as a promising technology of providing high spectral efficiency for future wireless communication systems. In previous works, the multi-user spatial multiplexing system has no special strategies for the computational cost and worst channel-case user. The exhaustive search algorithm can achieve optimal performance. However, its cost is large. In this paper, we propose a suboptimal user selection for the MU-MIMO system. The proposed algorithm maximizes total throughput by utilizing an approximately equivalent relation between the capacity and the singular value of channel matrix. To reduce the complexity further, we give out an iterative selection scheme. Compared with the optimal algorithm, the proposed algorithms achieve good sum capacity performance, have lower complexity, and are suitable for practical communication system. Simulation results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed user selection algorithm.
