RESEARCH ON MODELING AND RENDERING OF SCULPTURE-LIKE OBJECT
For some complex and irregular objects in scene, such as sculptures, it is difficult to model with the existing methods. On the basis of discussing LOD and IBR, a new method of modeling and rendering, concerning the sculpture-like object, was proposed,which used Billboard technology with many texture images to simulate the observation effects from different directions. To avoid the sudden change of the images, the transiting images between two neighboring texture images were generated with view morphing. The method introduced in the paper has been applied in the scene of navigation simulator. The results show that the method can reduce the burden of modeling and improve rendering efficiency.
