Application of SWAT for ET Management in the Zhangweinan River Basin
With the development of economics and society since the 1980s, problems of deficit in water resources, runoff deduction and water pollution are worsening and becoming harmful for the sustainable development of economics and society. Data were collected and SWAT model for the Zhangweinan River basin was developed in this study. Results reveal that model precision can be improved by calibrating with remote sensing derived evapotranspiration (ET), with a Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient (ENS) of 0.77 for the performance in ET simulation; and model performance was satisfied as a result of ET and runoff calibration. With the scenario analysis, it is found that, ET in cropland is decreasing in proportion with the decreasing of irrigation water amount, and the deduction of ET is approximately equal to 70.6% of the deduction of irrigation; and it is unreasonable to implement crop planting structure adjustment in large-scale region, but reasonable in small-scale region with deficit irrigation water.
