What are the risks with low-grade ezposures to asbestos?
IntroductionAsbestos has been banned in most Western industrialized countries because of its health effects. However, in many other countries including the largest in population (and also soon the most economically important ones) i.e. China and India, as well as Russia, Brazil and many other countries, asbestos is mined and used in large amounts and it is likely that this will continue for at least the next few decades. Will this, then, result in a large epidemic of asbestos-related diseases in the future in those countries, when the population thanks to very much improved economic circumstances will reach older ages in a larger proportion than today?
