An Epidemiological study on asbestos--related diseases of Chongqing asbestos products factory

Objective To investigate the occurrence of asbestosis and death anterior-posterior technology innovation of Chongqing asbestos products factory, and to study the effects of the length of service and the type of work on asbestosis. And then to discuss the preventability of asbestos-related diseases. Methods Use the cohort-study method to follow-up all the male workers exposure to the asbestos dust of Chongqing asbestos products factory, whose wages are on the list. Results This factory various workshops dust concentration in gradually reduces along with the age development. In the investigation of proportional mortality rate analysis, heart disease from lung disorders, the lung cancer, the accidental death are the main causes of death, 82 year cohorts death density reduces (P<0.01) obviously compared to 72 year cohorts, 72 year cohorts main cause of death for heart disease from lung disorders and lung cancer, but accidental death rise to the 82 year cohorts main cause of death. 82 year cohorts asbestosis density has reduced (P<0.01) obviously compared to 72 year cohorts. The asbestosis rates of different types of work are different. The highest dust concentration workshop, raw material workshop workers asbestosis rate is the highest. Meets the dust job seniority to be longer, the asbestosis rate is higher. Conclusion Long-term contacting of asbestos dust may cause a series of asbestos-related disease such as the asbestosis, and increases the death risk. But the occurrence of asbestosis and death are related with the asbestos dust concentration and the dust exposure time, through the dust concentration of work environment, the protective measure, and shrinking the dust exposure time, may reduce the asbestosis and death obviously.
