Home-market Effect in ICT Industry: An Empirical Test with Gravity Approach Based on the Data of the Intra-industry Trade among Nine Asian Economies
This paper shows how the home-market effect can be estimated in a extended gravity model which is developed by Feenstra & Markusen(1998 and 2001), we test the intraindustry trade of information and communication technology (ICT) industry among nine newly industrialized and developing economies in east and south of Asia. The result indicates a reverse home-market effect(RHME), such a effect arises because Asians ICT goods which were produced initially for exporting are more and more easily absorbed by rapid growing domestic demands, further more, trade barriers also support a RHME.
