The Role of Small Scale Enterprises( SSEs) in the Socio-economic Development of Kuwait

Small scale enterprises (SSEs) play an important role in the socio-economic development of many countries, both developed and developing. Different models of SSEs development were discussed in the literature. The major purpose of this paper was to systematically investigate the socioeconomic role of SSEs in the oil-rich country of Kuwait. In order to achieve of national goals of diversification of the economy and provide employment to Kuwaitis, it was argued that SSEs could facilitate achieving such goals. The efforts of the developmental agencies engaged in facilitating the development of SSEs in Kuwait were detailed and discussed. Some of the challenges and opportunities of the development of SSEs in the Kuwait context were discussed.
