Numerical study on flowfield characteristic in S-duct inlet
The objective of this research was to simulate flowfield characteristic for subsonic, transonic and supersonic in S-duct inlet. Effect of angle of attack was taken into account. Numerical results, including surface static pressure, total pressure recovery and distortion descriptor, were compared with flight test data. And good agreement is apparent. Mechanism of secondary flow was also analyzed. Two pairs of vortices were obviously observed at exit. The performance of the inlet is better at small angle of attack and transonic or supersonic conditions.
