ANALYSIS ON MASS STORM FLOOD IN THE UPPER MINJIANG RIVER SINCE 1980S

Nanping City lies in north of Fujian Province and in the upper Minjiang River.Minjiang is the river in the southeast moist region of China which brings about heavy storm flood frequently in recent years. The heavy storm of Wuyishan is the main cause of flood, and the peak discharge of the Minjiang river is far exceed common river. There were nine typical mass storm floods in Nanping City since 1980s, which bring great losses. The cause of storm and the characteristics of nine mass storm floods for Nanping City in the upper Minjiang River are analyzed in this paper, and it can offer relative scientific basis for the research of surveying and predicting storm flood and measures of flood control and disaster reduction.
