STUDY ON EVALUATION INDEX AND METHODS OF RIVER ECOSYSTEM HEALTH

In present study, the index system for ecosystem health evaluation is established ac cording to the large-scale system theory, which consists of eight rules and thirty-three indexes after discussing connotation of river ecosystem health. Secondly, we compared the different evaluation methods including AUSRIVAS (the Australian river assessment system bioassessment methodology), EFCI (the estuarine fish community index), B-IBI (the multimetric benthic index of biological integrity), IBI (index of biological integrity), SIGNAL (stream invertebrate grade number average level). In addition, the trend of research and management development of stream ecosystem is illuminated as follows: to choose the accurate reference system, establish scientific and practicable evaluation system and consider the natural factor out of control for river ecosystem health appraisal, to introduce the water rights and water market in the river ecosystem management and establish the coordinating organization and agency, to promote status of the river ecosystem health in the plan of national development.
