STUDY ON RIVERBED EVOLVEMENT OF THE FOUR SHOALS OF XIJIANG MIDDLE REACHES IN GUANGDONG PROVINCE
Xijiang River is an important transportation passage as well as the key waterway construction target in China. Xijiang River enters into Guangdong Province at Jieshou which is 13km away from Wuzhou, Guangxi. Xijiang Middle Reaches refers to the section from Jieshou to Zhaoqing, with a length of 171km. Water level of Xijiang Middle Reaches is above 3.5m, expect the Jieshoutan Shoal, Panlongtan Shoal, Xintan Shoal and Duletan Shoal (Also called the Four Shoals). Although the Four Shoals have been regulated for many times, the water level is hardly deepened. These four shoals are the controlling shoals on Xijiang River and have restricted the navigation development on Xijiang River. By studying hydrology, sediment and riverbed terrain, and through adopting mathematic model and physical model, this paper studies in detail the riverbed evolvement rules of Xijiang River, especially under the conditions of unsteady flow release and downstream tide force. This paper aims at providing references for Xijiang Middle Reaches regulation.
