INFLUENCE ON PDNRBC BY SEDIMENT CONCENTRATION ON BAISHATAN CROSS SECTION

Project of Diversion from Nenjiang River to Baicheng City (PDNRBC) is a hydraulic project to solve the industrial and agricultural water problem of 2 million people and the irrigation problem of 300 thousand acres of farms in Baicheng City. The length of the diversion channel is 53.624km, and bottom gradient of designed channel is 1/20000, which makes the channel liable to be filled with mud and sediment. Sediment concentration of Baishatan cross section of Nenjiang River is the main influencing factor on PDNRBC. So it is necessary to analyze sediment concentration of Baishatan cross section. In this research, along the Baishatan cross section, at 10m far away from left and right bank, and in the centre of Nenjiang River, three vertical sampling lines are set, with two sampling points on each line. Considering that from June to August is the rainy season in northeastern China, sampling is done during this period. TZC-4 Particles Meter is used to measure the samples. According to the result and the flow velocity measured locally, the sediment concentration and sediment discharge rate of Baishatan cross section is computed, meanwhile the non-uniformity coefficient is computed. Based on the computed results, the probability of the channel silting is analyzed.
