STUDY OF INFLUENCE ON COHESIVE DEPOSITS INCIPIENT MOTION AND EROSION BY DRY BULK DENSITY

Based on the essential characteristic of cohesive deposits, from the motion mechanism of cohesive deposits to start with, the motion mechanism of cohesive deposits and the similarity between the cohesive sediment starting and the cohesive soil slope gliding failure in soil mechanics, firstly establishing the corresponding microcosmic motion pattern, then analyzing that dry bulk density is not only the main influence factor of the cohesive deposits critical motion shear stress,but also a function of (γ)3.25 and D. On the basis of the previous analyses, isolated factor method and Robets experiment datum are utilized to find the influence on the cohesive sediment critical motion shear stress by different dry bulk densities and different particle diameters and establish a corresponding formula concerning with critical motion shear stress. Thirdly, studying the influence of dry bulk density on the cohesive deposits incipient motion velocity which even full-face erodes and the erosion rate through theoretical analysis and experiment datum, establishing the corresponding formula, pointing out that there is 2.5-power relationship between incipient motion velocity of the even full-face erosion and the dry bulk density. The research results show that the incipient motion and the erosion of cohesive deposits are greatly influenced by the dry bulk density.
