STUDY ON HYDRAULIC CALCULATION AND CLOSURE TECHNIQUE FOR SEA RECLAMATION WORKS

For reasonable determination of the sequence, method, and optimum scheme for closure works, a study is performed on the regularity of variation of hydraulic factors at the entrance of sea reclamation works based of the water quantity balance equation. The results show that the size of a closure gap should be determined based on the control flow velocity of typical tide current during flood seasons, meanwhile, the gap bed and jetty head should be well protected, which the sequence and method for gap closure works should be determined based on the contour of the maximum flow velocity of a typical flood tide current during non-flood seasons. The wide shallow entrance and multi-section should be used in gap closure works on soft foundation with the maximum velocity set at the foot of section slopes, meanwhile, protection measures should be strengthened and the optimum technical scheme for gap closure works should meet the requirements of the minimum engineering quantity, easy organization and management during construction and also the realization of closure during a neap tide.
