APPLY CAISSON DAM AND PILLAR DAM FOR BARRIER CONSTRUCTION IN VIETNAM

Most of barrier constructions had been completed in Vietnam to be applied traditional technology with contraction coefficient of drainage, barrier Structure was formed by Reinforced concrete block and built in large dry pit on the bank or inside of the earth cofferdam right on the river. The Application of traditional technology for barrier building is costly and time consuming. The clean ground for building construction is a trouble, in case of deep water stage and large river, traditional technology is difficultly achievement. To overcome the shortcoming of traditional techniques for execution of the works in large rivers or in conditions comment about, VietNam Institute for Water Resource Research has been studied and successfully applied new technologies for barrier construction including pillar dam and caisson dam. Those technologies could be applied to build barrier construction fight on the river without diversion arrangement the drainage canal separation. Caisson dam is moveable barrier construction if necessary therefore apply this technology for agricultural-aquatic development region to be high efficiency on economy.
