COMPARISON OF SEVERAL FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEMES IN FLOW MODELING OVER AN OGEE SPILLWAY
One of the most popular methods in computational hydraulics is finite difference. There are plenty of schemes to expand a PDE and change it to system of algebraic equations. Selection of a suitable scheme is always helps to have reasonable results. In this paper three best known schemes, Lax, Preissmann, and Vasiliev, are compared to each other for water flow over a typical 0gee spillway. The results show that Vasiliev scheme is more suitable among others. It is also in close agreement with experimental observations.
