APPLICATION OF TRANSIT TIME ULTRASONIC FLOWMETER FOR LOW LIFT PUMPING STATION USING
The large scale low-lift pumping stations have been widely applied in the plain region for irrigation and drainage, city flood control and water division. Since these pumping stations with short inlet and outlet conduit and complex changes of section and flow pattern, it has been a big problem to get accurate flow rate measurement of pump. Normal measurement methods have many disadvantages, such as large workload, complication and low precision. Therefore, there is not one type of measurement method which has been accepted as simple, reliable one with high precision. It has affected the technology advance and effective management. Combining with local test of a large scale pumping station of Jiangsu Province, based on the k-ε model, the SIMPLEC algorithm is applied for the solution of the discretization governing equation. Using three dimension numerical simulations, the flow pattern of inlet passage is revealed. The calculation results, as velocity, pressure field, especially flow distribution of key section, are studied to determine the install position of transducer and integral coefficient. Local test showed, the install position and disposals type of ultrasonic flowmeter are optimized to achieve high test precision. The workload was reduced and test cost was saved. The application of ultrasonic flowmeter can be effectively enlarged.
