EFFECT OF INSTALLATION OF FISHWAY ON FLOW CHARACTERISTICS AROUND WEIR

In this paper, the flow condition downstream of a trapezoidal weir with the protruded fishway has been clarified for several stages of discharge. Also, the effects of the location and the size of the fishway on flow characteristics below the weir have been shown. By installing the protruded fishway at the weir, the flow condition immediately downstream of the weir for several flood stages becomes either symmetric flow or asymmetric and unstable flow. The hydraulic condition for the formation of asymmetric and unstable flow has been shown. By installing the steps on the downstream face of the weir, the flow condition around the fishway is stabilized, and the steps are effective for the improvement of the flow condition immediately downstream of the weir with the protruded fishway during flood stages. Further, the example of the protruded fishway with the installation of the steps has been introduced.
