EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF ELIMINATION OF VORTICES ALONG GUIDE WALL OF BANK SPILLWAY
In this paper the result of an experiment study carried out on a physical model of the Yutang darn bank spillway is presented. The main object of this work is to find a way to aviod the the formation of a vortex and separation flow along guide wall in front of gates during the discharge of the spillway. The case of flow condition in inlet channel during the design flood is studied. This has allowed a specific design which eliminate the formation of vortice and separation flow to be proposed. It consists of redesign the profile of the guide wall. In order to determine the effectiveness of the proposed structure, the flow condition of inlet, the water head along guide wall and discharge capacity of spillway are all observed and recorded.
