HYDRAULIC CHARACTERISTICS OF SERVICE GATE DOWNSTREAM FIN OF DISCHARGE TUNNELS
An overall series of experiments on laboratory model of discharge tunnel service gate of NuoZhaDu project were conducted in Hydraulic laboratory of Hohai University. Lengths of fins as well as distance of the maximum height of fin downstream of service gate relative to step under various water heads upstream of the service gate with various step heights were investigated. Results demonstrate that, length of fins downstream of a service gate for a larger step height are constantly more than those with smaller step height within the entire range of same Fr numbers. Exceeding some extends of step height leads to decrease in fin length particularly for Fr numbers more than 2.5. Two simple empirical formulae for estimation of length of fin as well as distance of the maximum height of fm relative to step were derived.
