EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON INNER VELOCITY AND ENERGY DISSIPATION OF SHAFT SPILLWAY WITH WHIRLING CURRENT

In this paper, inner velocity and wall pressure of shaft spillway with whirling current were measured in model experiment. Besides, the distribution characteristics of wall pressure and wall friction head loss along the water path were analysed. The results indicate that the main energy dissipation consists of two parts: wall friction head loss and the the energy dissipation in the dissipation well. Especially, if the shaft tunnel is short the main energy dissipation happens in the dissipation well and when the shaft tunnel extends longer the ratio of wall friction head loss will increases at the same time.
