THE EFFECTS OF DISCHARGE RATIO ON HELIX FLOW AT Y SHAPED JUNCTION
The structure of flow is very complex at Y shaped junction where there is multiform helix flow. This paper analyzes the effects of discharge ratio (the ratio of mainstream flux to post confluence flux) on helix flow at Y shaped junction through three-dimensional numerical simulation. It can be concluded a big only helix flow will form at the side of bigger flux and another helix flow will be limited at the side of smaller flux when there are big difference between mainstream flux and tributary flux at Y shaped junction. When the flux from mainstream and tributary is almost equal the flow is dominated by two helical cells, back-to-back. According these results a three-dimensional simplified model is established for Y shaped junction.
