New Design of Eutectic Fized-Point Cell for Simultaneous Contact and Non-contact Measurements
A new design of fixed point cell for simultaneous contact and non-contact measurements has been developed in MIRS/FE-LMK. The cell can be used in vertical or horizontal position. However it has been designed for use in horizontal furnaces where the temperature of the phase change transition can be measured from each side of the furnace tube, either with thermocouples or non-contact thermometers. The measurements were performed simultaneously with thermocouple and non-contact thermometer and also with two thermocouples simultaneously. Over 20 realizations of the Ni-C fixed point were performed with the developed cell. The melting temperatures of Ni-C measured with thermoeouple type R and non-contact thermometer agree within their uncertainties.
