Recent Progress in the Development of Precision Rh-0.5at.% Fe Thermometers of Chinese Production

Following the practical impossibility to obtain new precision Rh-0.5at.%Fe thermometers in the last years,the possible re-starting of the production of such type of thermometers in Yunnan (China) was explored by INRIM in cooperation with NIM. After the production in 2006 of ten prototypes of the new production and the published preliminary data about testing of the R-T characteristics and of their reproducibility on thermal cycling, where a problem was detected attributed the alloy composition, new studies were undergoing. This paper presents the still preliminary results of these further studies, concerning the alloy composition, the thermal pre-treatment of the alloy wire used in new prototypes and some results obtained about the basic characteristics obtained, namely sensitivity and the R-T characteristics, also with a comparison with the previous results.
