Investigation of the Long Term Stability of Co-C and Pt-C
An investigation on the long term stability of the eutectic fixed points has been done to obtain more and general results. One Pt-C and one Co-C fixed point cells were employed for this investigation. Due to Pt-C cells have a C/C structure in first work package of the CCT-WG 5 M(C)-C Eutectic Research Plan, a sleeve design Pt-C cell has been chosen here; Co-C cell has a C/C design. Two cells were performed respectively over 80 and 50 melting/freezing circles,and then the changes of the plateaus were compared, no evidently degradation was observed for both cells from melting curves shape. The plateau duration has a decrease as the cells were aged for both Co-C and Pt-C, although this is different from our initial expectation as Pt-C cell used a sleeve design.
