Thermal Assessment of Fized-point Cell Design by Numerical Modelling

LNE has developed an original device to investigate the realization of the indium fixed-point by an adiabatic technique. Experimental and numerical assessments of the apparatus demonstrated the ability of the technique to achieve nearly adiabatic conditions. The objective of the work described in this paper is to use numerical modelling as a helping tool to the improvement of this apparatus. For this purpose various cell geometries were studied with a time dependent, 2D axi-symmetric, thermal model using a iTEM software.
