Staff Development in Corporate Universities Using DTI

Human Capital Development has been the constant endeavour of not only the State but also of the industry in each nation. Provision for continuous learning for employees has become a lasting concern for many of the global industries in the wake of 1. Fast-paced obsoletion of current knowledge and practice; 2. Increasing need for multi-tasking; 3. High rate of attrition; 4. Growing faith in employee-well being leading to enhanced healthy industry performance and 5. Mismatch between Institutional products and Industrial needs. Thus, besides the prominent agenda items of the Human Resource Department of an industry like employee recruitment, retention and well being after rendering services, continuous learning (atleast till the employee is on the rolls of the industry) has also gained a significant place in the industry. As a result, Corporate Universities have come into existence to meet the twin needs of providing both continuing education and training of personnel in the Corporate Sector. In spite of Corporate University being a new incumbent to the educational sector, it flourishes by 1. Optimizing collaboration with Face-to-Face Universities; 2. Networking with individuals who are renowned in a specific field; 3.Extending provision within the industry for full time student internship programmes and 4. Partnerships with the experienced employee on roll as a co-trainer in the entire education process.
