Energy-balancing Multicast Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks
In wireless sensor networks, existing locationbased multicast protocols deliver data packets to group members through static data paths, using the location information of group members. Routing paths in the data delivery paths are never changed unless topology changes. Therefore, the nodes on the routing paths can be dead owing to continuous energy consumption and thus the lifetime of network might be shortened. This paper proposes a dynamic location-based multicast protocol to balance the network energy consumption by changing the routing paths so that prolong the lifetime of wireless sensor networks. Finally, we prove performance improvement of our protocol on energy consumption by using simulations.
