Stability of concrete filled CFRP-steel tube under azial compression
An investigation on stability of concrete filled CFRP-steel tube is developed in two ways including experimental study and theoretical analysis. 24 long columns with different lengths and CFRP thick-nesses but same diameters were tested under compressive loading. Test results indicate that loading-deflection behavior as well as the ultimate load is strongly depended on the lengths of the columns. And the longer specimens show obviously stability-based failure. For the purpose of establishing the stability-based criterion of this composed system, a set of equations for estimating critical loadings in terms of length/diameter ratio are derived by applying Eulers theory. This experimentally proved criterion is involves both the elastic and elastic-plastic stability of the specimens.
