Flezural limit load capacity test and analysis for steel and concrete composite beams with tubular up-flanges

Steel and concrete composite girders with concrete-filled tubular up-flanges (SCCGCFTF)have been proposed in this paper. In order to study the bending capacity of SCCGCFTF, the static test underconcentrated loads in vertical direction has been performed. Based on the test results, the bending capacity and mechanical characters of the specimen were obtained and the flexural failure mechanisms of SCCGCFTF were also summarized. Then the finite element software ANSYS was used to establish the nonlinear static analysis model of SCCGCFTE By comparison of results from numerical analyze and test, it was showed that the anal-ysis, considering material nonlinearities, was in great agreement with the test results. On the basis of analysis above, some requirements concerning the design of initial geometry sizes were recommended.
