Non-linear finite element simulation of non-local softening for high strength steel material

The capability of numerical simulation for the stress-strain relation beyond the elastic-plastic region has been limited by softening modeling for brittle materials. An attempt has been made to develop a modeling technique based on the experimental behaviour of the high strength steel under normal and cyclic loading conditions. It is capable of capturing the complete stress distribution on the analysis. Different validation cases have been conducted to investigate the feasibility of this technique and results obtained have been satisfac-tory. The aim is to create a material model and numerical technique for high strength tubular structure analysis.
