The Framework and Implementation of Virtual Network Marathon

In recent years, computer games have made rapid progress, and become a very popular way of digital entertainment. For virtual fitness games, traditional interactive tools such as keyboard and mouse are replaced with fitness equipments. Such games provide user with physical exercise as well as entertainment, which makes them very attractive and have very bright prospects. Virtual Network Marathon (VNM) is a prototype of this kind. In this paper,we present the design of VNMs framework, as well as some key techniques while implementing the system, including network synchronization, character modeling, interactive walkthrough and virtual crowd. Those techniques gain advantage of an efficient communication protocol, tangible interface and real-time rendering,and provide users with increased sense of immersion.
