Estimation of Microfibril Angle by Near Infrared Spectroscopy
Introduction NIR spectroscopy, with its lower cost instrumentation and rapid spectra collection (with little or no sample preparation), is ideally suited for quantitative analysis, and is particularly applicable to process monitoring and quality control applications(1). At present many researchers have put NIR into practice to predict MFA of wood. However, the differences between radial and tangential MFA prediction have not been reported in China. Therefore, the objective of this study is to compare the NIR prediction results about wood radial and tangential MFA to better know about the whole variance in the radial direction.
