Practice of Wood Identification of Southeast-Asian Timbers for Pallets
Introduction Japanese timber industry has ever required information about individual timbers from Southeast Asia in order to enable to effectively utilize the timbers that greatly vary in wood quality depending on their widely differing botanical origins. For that purpose, reliable species identification is the most important first step. Practical identification was carried out using sown timbers for pallets, portable platform for transporting loads, which have been produced predominantly of timbers in Japan, and the major materials are mixed hardwood timbers from Southeast Asia.
