Research on the Effects of Fertilization on Moso Bamboo Quality

Moso bamboo forest is an important forest resource in south China. The result of field fertilization trials for bamboo forests in Jiangxi and Hubei provinces showed that: balanced fertilization increased bamboo plant diameter, improved the quality of bamboo shoots and the economic efficiency and yields significantly. While the effect of fertilizing on the mechanical property of bamboo plant was not significant. Balanced fertilization also reduced fertilizer loss and pollution risk. Therefore, balanced nutrition management is important for improving bamboo forest productivity, bamboo quality, economic benefit and ecological environment in south China.
