Variation of the Size of Vascular Bundle and Vessel Morphology and Their Correlation with the Physical-Mechanical Properties of Phyllostachys pubescens
Introduction Phyllostachys pubescens is the main bamboo resource and also is one of the main timber assortment of cultivate pulpwood in China. Moreover, vascular bundle of bamboo is an important component, which is composed of many thick-wall fiber cells, is one of significant factor that affects its mechanical properties. In this paper, we measured tangential and radial diameter of vascular bundle and vessel in the experiment, analyzed their variation, and explored the correlation between the size of vascular bundle and vessel and main physical and mechanical properties by means of mathematical statistics analysis, with the aim to provide important reference for sustainable and reasonable development of bamboo resource.
