A Statistical Algorithm for Detection of Damage in Timbers using Mode Shapes of Vibration
Introduction It is meaningful to evaluate the local Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) of a timber to design its full usage considering the design safety factors and to monitor the degradation at the earliest possible stage to avoid the future catastrophic fracture during service life. Hereby, a novel statistical algorithm is proposed for damage detection and location under the different simulated scenarios of different damage locations, different damage severities, and multiple damage points by mode shapes of vibration testing.
